A trip to the island of Bonaire, featuring a lot of SCUBA diving.

Bonaire is a small island just north of Venezuela, but it is a remnant of the Dutch colonial empire. It's still part of the Netherlands, so we were technically in Europe. Bonaire's major selling point is SCUBA. It's very convenient to do shore dives: there are dive sites marked at various spots on the coast, and you just park your pickup, unload your gear, and get in the water.

Over the course of the week, I did 18 dives (12 shore, 6 boat), including my 100th SCUBA dive. Underwater highlights included: snake eels, tarpon, green sea turtles, frilled nudibranchs, and weird luminescence in the water at night.

The trip was organized by Gina, who, as usual took a bunch of spectacular photos underwater.
